Homes Threatened By Sand Fire

Plymouth, CA — A large fire that is visible from areas of Calaveras County has grown to 1,300 acres.

The Sand Fire is located near the Amador and Eldorado County line. CAL Fire reports that 250 homes are considered threatened and three structures have been destroyed. Several homes in the area were evacuated last night. The fire is situated east of Highway 49, about five miles north of Plymouth. 500 firefighters are on scene, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire is 20% contained.
