Sonora Traffic Reminder

Sonora, CA – A section of Mono Way will be shutdown to through traffic next week.  As reported earlier, the full road closure starts Monday, July 28 and runs until Friday, August 8.

Today, Sonora city officials released more details on the closure, which involves the section betweenRoselyn Lane and Rogers Road on Mono Way.

Sonora City Engineer Jerry Fuccillo Crews says crews will be working round the clock excavating a culvert by digging a 23-foot deep trench. He says there will be barricades to prevent anyone from crossing the roadway.

Mono Way will also be closed to through traffic between Greenley Road and Fir Drive. However, businesses along the section will be open to the public and residents will be allowed access.

To get to businesses or homes east of Roselyn Lane motorists will have to use need Fir Drive. For the Westside motorists will have to use Greenley Road.

Eastbound through traffic will be detour to Sanguinetti Road at Greenley Road. Westbound will be detoured to Sanguinetti Road at Fir Drive. Detour signs will be posted along the routes.

In addition, a retaining wall, sidewalk and utility work will be done on the north side of Mono Way during the closure period.  Motorists can expect lane restrictions and flaggers in that area.
