Camper Hit By Truck

The San Andreas CHP Office responded to an incident up by Lake Alpine over the Independence Day weekend.

It happened at space number 11 at the Lake Alpine West Campground. The CHP reports that 64-year-old David Kirby of Fairfield was driving a Ford pickup truck and he pulled into space 11 simply to let vehicles behind him pass by. However, he accelerated into the space too quickly and struck 64-year-old Nancy Joyner of Ione who was standing outside of her tent trailer. Kirby’s truck then proceeded to hit the trailer as well, and several large rocks in the campsite.

The CHP reports Joyner sustained “moderate injuries” and she was transported by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas.
