Hughson Teen Killed In Forest Crash

Tuolumne County, CA — An 18-year-old was killed in a crash in the Eagle Meadows area.

The CHP reports that the unidentified teen from Hughson was driving a 1994 Jeep Wrangler along Forest Service Road 5N01. He hit a large rock, causing the Jeep to overturn. The driver, and his only passenger, 17-year-old Dallas P. Casqueira of Hughson, were ejected from the Jeep.

The vehicle ran over the ejected driver, and he was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived. Casqueira had moderate injuries, and was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center. The two had been in the area of Relief Reservoir and were in the process of returning back to their campground.

The CHP reports that the crash is still under investigation. Neither individuals were wearing a seatbelt. The accident report reads, “At this time it is not known if alcohol was a factor in the collision.” The crash occurred at 10:30pm on Sunday.
