What Is FEED United?

Beginning this Saturday, the “FEED Your Community” Farmer’s Market will begin in Arnold and continue each Saturday through August 23rd.

Liz and Craig Dickson, founders of FEED United , were Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

The market is located at the Cedar Center and runs from 4 – 8 PM.

‘FEED Your Community’ is a part of the non-profit ‘FEED United’, based at the HUB in Calaveras County.

But what is FEED United?

FEED United began in 2012 with a few friends in Murphys getting together for the purpose of reaching out to people in the community. They began by making, packaging and delivering meals to families in need of encouragement throughout Calaveras.

“Although we are currently serving 100 plus meals on a monthly basis, our goal is to serve many more,” Liz Dickson said, “Our mission is to positively impact the lives of people in our community through food, encouragement, events and opportunities to experience God’s love in tangible ways.”

FEED United provides dinner for anyone who could use a bit of encouragement: Families who have lost a loved one, are recently unemployed, or caring for a newborn, single parent families, senior citizens and families in crisis.

While FEED United began by serving meals, they have expanded their vision to feed every area of a person’s life, with separate categories such as: FEED Your Family, FEED Your Marriage, FEED Your Faith, FEED Your Finances, FEED Your Fitness, and FEED the Need.

Through conferences, workshops, classes, music, and community-wide events at The HUB in Arnold, the goal is to offer people the opportunity to feel accepted and to learn real-world skills to improve their way of life.

Regardless of income level or background, a person should be able to find a place where they can fit in and “be fed” to their heart’s content.

Craig Dickson added, “We want people to experience the transforming power of a God who loves them individually and uniquely; a God who meets people right where they are and helps them to become the people He created them to be.”

The Dickson’s are looking for volunteers to cook, deliver meals, or encourage others.

Liz and Craig have filed for 501c3 status.
