Two Hurt In Jeep Versus Pedestrian Accident

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department has been investigating a crash at a local shopping center.

It happened over the weekend at the eastern entrance/exit of the Sonora Plaza on Mono Way. The Police Department reports that 54-year-old Diana Greener and 69-year-old Arthur Greener, both of Sonora, were walking along the Greenley Road sidewalk, adjacent to the Shopping Center. They then walked across the entrance/exit portion of the road, and Diana was hit by a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was turning onto Greenley Road. She was run over by the Jeep, and as she fell, she knocked over Arthur, and he hit the ground as well.

Diana suffered major injuries to her head and leg, and was flown to a hospital in Modesto. Arthur was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center.

The Police Department reports that the driver of the Jeep, 32-year-old Charlene Chapman of Jamestown, had stopped momentarily to check for traffic, but did not see the pedestrians.

The PD notes that the crash remains under investigation. No further details are immediately available.
