CHP Out Looking For Unsafe Drivers

Sonora, CA — It’s going to be a busy weekend on California Highways.

The CHP is in the midst of a Memorial Day weekend Maximum Enforcement Period. All available officers will be out patrolling through late Monday.

“We’re going to be looking for aggressive driving, people speeding, and following too close,” says Officer Nick Norton. “This weekend kind of kicks off the summer, and a lot of people will be out on the roadways.

Last year 40 people were killed on California highways during the Memorial Day weekend. In addition, 1,200 people were arrested for DUI.
