Rim Fire Recovery Open House

Sonora, CA — There is chance to learn more about upcoming salvage logging planned for the Stanislaus National Forest.

An open house on the Rim Fire Recovery Draft Environmental Impact Statement is scheduled from 2-5pm today in the Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor’s Conference Room. The Forest Service reports that the Draft EIS is designed to salvage dead trees to capture economic value, remove roadside hazard trees to protect the public, reduce fuels for future forest resiliency, improve roads for hydrologic function, and enhance wildlife habitat. Forest Service personnel will be on hand to answer questions, and explain the different alternatives currently being looked at, prior to implementation.

The open house is open to the public.
