Unemployment Rate Remains Steady

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County’s unemployment rate remained the same last month, and Calaveras County dropped slightly.

Tuolumne County’s rate in March was unchanged at 9.8%. Calaveras County’s dropped from 10.2% to 10.1%.

California’s unemployment rate held steady at 8.1 percent in March. The state Employment Development Department also revised its February unemployment rate to 8.1 percent, up slightly from the previously reported 8 percent.

Sectors that added jobs over the past month include mining and logging, construction, trade, business services, and health services.

Sectors that lost jobs include manufacturing and finance.  More than 1.5 million Californians are unemployed.
