Name Released In Car Vs. Pole Crash

Valley Springs, CA — The CHP has identified a Valley Springs woman as the driver of a car that smashed into a power pole on Highway 12 this morning.

The accident happened at 7:40 a.m. on Highway 12 west of Hillcrest Drive in Valley Springs. 60-year-old Sherry Grundy driving a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling west bound on the highway at around 55 miles per hour. The CHP reports for unknown reasons Grundy went off the roadway about 400 feet and hit a power pole.

Highway 12 was completely shut down while the debris from the wreck was cleared away. Also, PG&E was called to the scene to upright the pole that was leaning over the roadway. There were no reports of any power outages.

Grundy was taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center suffering minor injuries. The CHP reports weather was not a factor in the wreck and neither were drugs or alcohol.
