New Unemployment Figures

Sacramento, CA — February’s unemployment statistics showed a drop for the state and little change for the Mother Lode.

California’s unemployment continued its steady decline, hitting 8% in February down from 8.1% in January. Tuolumne County’s rate went up slightly from 9.7% in January to 9.8% last month. Calaveras County’s rate did not budge and remained at 10.2%.

The State of California reported sectors that added workers include mining, logging, construction, financial services, health care, and educational services. The sector that reported the largest job loss was manufacturing with 2,600.

The statistics were compiled by the California Employment Development Department.
