Dooley Will Visit Sonora Schools

Sonora, CA — A member of Governor Jerry Brown’s cabinet will be in Sonora on Friday.

Health and Human Services Secretary Diana Dooley will visit Columbia, Curtis Creek and Jamestown Elementary Schools to observe the “Fit For the Future” program. The county’s “Fit For the Future” efforts have received positive recognition statewide in fighting childhood obesity and promoting healthy living.

Superintendent of Schools Joe Silva says it is an honor that Secretary Dooley is taking note. “As Secretary of Health she is interested in seeing it, and feels that it could be replicated in other counties,” he said.

The County’s fit for the future program is a partnership between the Superintendent of Schools Office, Tuolumne County Public Health, Sonora Regional Medical Center and Anthem Blue Cross.
