Discussing Rural County Issues In Sacramento

Tuolumne County Supervisor Randy Hanvelt is on his second day of a two day trip in Sacramento, where he is talking about issues that affect Tuolumne and other rural counties.

Hanvelt was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

In addition to meeting with state legislators, Hanvelt is on the Regional Council of Rural Counties (RCRC) Committee. An all day meeting was held yesterday.

Topics discussed include funding for fifteen county fairs that are on a state “watch list”. When asked if Tuolumne County is in danger of losing the Mother Lode Fair, Hanvelt replied that he certainly hopes not but the discussion did include the overall benefits of the local fair and the fairground facilities along with funding concerns.

Other topics included the drought, water issues, natural resources, the Rim Fire and the funding of rural schools.

The RCRC paid for Hanvelt’s trip to Sacramento.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
