National Park Fees Waived This Weekend

In celebration of President’s Day this Monday, Yosemite National Park will offer free admission into the park starting this weekend.

Spokesperson Kari Cobb was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

The fee waiver is for all National Park visitors this Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The fees being waived for the holiday weekend include the fees associated with entrance into the park only. All other fees associated with camping, lodging, or activities within the park are not waived, and the fee waiver only applies to this President’s Day weekend.

According to Cobb, “There is not a lot of snow in the Yosemite Valley, so it’s very easy for visitors to move around. Most of the snow is in the higher elevations. And after last weekends storms, the waterfalls have picked up and they are flowing”.

Cobb added that depsite the Rim Fire moving through the Hetch Hetchy area last Summer, tourists are allowed into that portion of the Park and see the reservoir.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
