Motorist Alert: Hazard In Roadway

New Melones Lake, CA — The CHP is reporting a rockslide on the Calaveras County side of the Stevenot Bridge on Highway 49.

CHP Spokesperson Rebecca Myers says, “It is partially blocking the highway. We are unsure at this time what lane or if both lanes are blocked. We have units in route. We just want the public to be aware of that area, to slow down and be prepared to stop.”

Update 5 p.m.: The CHP reports the roadway has been cleared and traffic is moving freely once again.  There is no word at this time on what lane or lanes were blocked.
