Berryhill Questions Brown Budget

Sacramento, CA – Governor Brown’s spending plan has been released and the California legislature is reviewing it. District 14 Senator Tom Berryhill, a Republican, spoke about his concerns with the budget. Details are in his blog here.

While generally supportive of the budget’s emphasis on debt repayment and fiscal restraint, Berryhill commented “the devil’s in the details”. Berryhill questions how the budget addresses job creation, or the regulatory reforms that will help businesses, why the Rainy Day Fund is to be discussed and funding related to prison realignment.

Berryhill says, “It became obvious today that legislative Democrats are more interested in reducing the Governor’s debt repayment plan, increasing new state spending and raising the corporate tax rate.” For his full statements read his blog “CA Budget Briefs” here.
