SRMC Celebrates 10 Years

Sonora, CA — Today marks the 10-year anniversary of Sonora Regional Medical Center moving into its current location on Greenley Road.

In 2004 the company moved from its Forest Road location, and changed its name from Sonora Community Hospital to Sonora Regional Medical Center. At the time, the company had 871 employees. Today, SRMC has 1,372 employees. The number of physicians has grown from 120 in 2004 to 170 in 2014.

A staff luncheon was held this afternoon at SRMC in honor of the 10-year anniversary. One of the many people on hand was Dr. Danny Anderson, who joined the medical center in the 1980’s. “The services now are much more complete,” he said, reflecting on the past 10 years. “It’s very unusual that a patient has to leave the county for services now.”

SRMC is planning for more growth over the coming years, notably with plans to build a new Cancer Center and Medical Pavilion at the former Andy’s site at the Mono Way and Greenley Road intersection.
