County Housing Meeting

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors Housing Policy Committee is meeting to discuss existing and future housing needs for the county. The public is invited to attend the meeting tomorrow, Wednesday January 15th, at 10 a.m. in the Supervisors Chambers at 2 South Green Street in Sonora.

According to Housing Program Coordinator Sheila Shanahan, “Comments from interested persons, groups, organizations, and agencies are essential to developing a comprehensive Housing Element for Tuolumne County.”

The Policy Committee will update the current housing plan to address ways to attain the State’s goal of providing “decent housing in a suitable living environment for every Californian.” This includes analyzing the existing and projected housing needs in the County and list goals, policies, measurable objectives, financial resources, and scheduled programs for the preservation, improvement, and development of housing. All types of housing for all economic levels of people living in Tuolumne County are up for discussion.

State law requires communities to identify and analyze existing and future housing needs in the County’s General Plan. The City of Sonora held their housing meeting earlier in this week.
