Woman Sentenced For Assaults

Sonora, CA — A woman was sentenced to five years in state prison for two separate assaults in Tuolumne County.

Mildred Lopez-Alecio was booked into county jail in August of 2012 after striking a man in the back of the head with a beer bottle and leaving the man notably injured. The Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office reports the man had recently ended a relationship with Lopez-Alecio. The DA’s Office argued for a lengthy sentence in county jail, but Alecio received 15 days incarceration and 45 days on electronic monitoring.

This past August Lopez-Alecio was involved in an argument with a cohabitant and she struck him in the face with a metal coat hanger, breaking one of his teeth. The case went to a jury and she was convicted of Corporal Injury to a cohabitant.

Taking into account both incidents, Lopez-Alecio was sentenced this week to five years in state prison. She will face possible deportation following the completion of her prison sentence.
