Sonora, CA — The unemployment rate remained steady for both the state and the Mother Lode.
California’s jobless rate continued on a positive downward trend. It dropped two-tenths of a point from 8.7%to 8.5% in November. According to the California Employment Development Department(EDD) more than 44,000 non-farm jobs were added. However, California’s rate still exceeded the national unemployment rate which dipped to 7% in November.
The report showed the Mother Lode figures did not budge. Tuolumne County’s rate was 8.7% in October and remained there for November. Calaveras County’s rate also stayed steady at 9.6% for both October and November.
Sectors that posted the largest job declines were financial activities and government. Areas that saw job gains included mining, logging, construction, and manufacturing.
