Names Released In Major Injury Accident

Valley Springs, CA — A Sutter Creek woman suffered major injuries in a pile up on Highway 12 in Valley Springs.

The CHP reports 70-year-old Shirley Holligan of San Andreas was driving a 2004 Chrysler westbound on Highway 12. She didn’t see 68-year-old Teri Ballew of Wallace stopped in a 2008 Chevrolet trying to make a left turn onto Southworth Road. Holligan rear-ended Ballew. The force of the crash caused Ballew’s car to smash head-on into 43-year-old Kathleen Hearn of Sutter Creek. Hearn was driving a 1995 Toyota going eastbound on Highway 12. Behind Hearn 62-year-old Craig Biles of Wallace was driving a 2008 Ford and rear-ended Hearn’s car.

Hearn suffered major injuries and was taken to Mark Twain Medical Center. She was later taken by air ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for further treatment. Holligan and Ballew suffered minor injuries.

All were wearing their seat belts. The CHP reports drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash which is still under investigation.
