Open Burning Is Allowed

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of Cal Fire is lifting the overnight burning only restrictions.

Beginning today burning is allowed 24 hours a day on permissive burn days in both Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

“The weather has cooperated and with the lower temperatures that helpful. It is forecasted to stay cooler going forward so it’s a good time to lift those restrictions,” says Cal Fire Spokesperson Lisa Williams.

Cal Fire reminds residents it is important to remain in attendance, have access to a water supply, and avoid burning if windy conditions are prevalent.

Permissive burn days are established by the Air Pollution Control District in each county. You can find out if it is a burn day in your county by going to myMotherLode.com and clicking on the home page. The information is updated every morning and can be found in the current condition box.
