Major Injury Crash

Calaveras County, CA — A woman suffered major injuries in a crash in Calaveras County Sunday afternoon.


27-year-old Sarah Jessop of Pine Grove was driving on Highway 26, west of Ponderosa Road. The CHP reports that she briefly glanced down at her cell phone and lost control of her Chevy S-10. She hit an oncoming vehicle driven by a female identified by the CHP as 65-year-old G. Chepourkoff of Valley Springs.


Jessop was taken by air ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto to treat major injuries, and Chepourkoff was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center to treat minor injuries. The crash occurred at 2:50pm.
