Wet Weather Will Be Followed By Strong Winds

The threat of showers will continue into Thursday with strong winds to follow from Thursday night into Saturday over northern California.

Additional rainfall amounts of less than a quarter of an inch is expected in the central valley. Less than an inch of rain is anticipated in the Mother Lode.

Several inches of wet snow is possible over the Sierra passes. Close to half a foot of snow is likely over higher remote elevations above 7000 feet.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible in the central valley and the Mother Lode from Wednesday afternoon into early Wednesday evening. 

Winds will begin to increase Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada, from Thursday evening through Saturday morning.

Winds of twenty-five to thirty-five mph are expected with gusts ranging from fifty to one hundred mph.

Locations include all along the ridge tops and below passes as well local ski resorts, the Merced River Canyon and the Yosemite Valley.
