More Reflective Traffic Signs

Sonora, CA — 185 traffic signs will be replaced in Tuolumne County, and 2,600 existing signs will receive a new reflective coating.

The Federal Highway Administration increased the requirements on “reflectivity” of signs and traffic devices on public streets, highways, bikeways and public roads. The changes were approved by the federal government several years ago, and the county has until January 1st of 2015 to implement the changes.

This week the county requested bids for the work, and those must be submitted by December 5th. To pay for the project, the county received a $769K federal grant, with the county being required to cover $77,000 of the costs.
