Trash Rates And Toads

Sonora, CA — Garbage rates and endangered species protections will be among discussion at Tuesday’s Tuolumne County Supervisors meeting.

The Board will hold public hearings about the idea of raising trash collection rates by 2.56% for customers serviced by CAL Sierra/Waste Management, Burns Refuse Service and Moore Bros. Scavenger Company. The rate increase would be based on the latest Consumer Price Index.

The Board will also vote on whether to send a letter to the US Fish and Wildlife Service regarding proposed protected species designations of the Yellow Legged Frog and Yosemite Toad. In addition, they will decide whether to send a letter requesting funding to offset agricultural losses during the Rim Fire.

In other business, the Board will take some of the final steps towards the county officially taking final ownership of the Kennedy Meadows property. The county has been working with the Stewardship Council for several years to take the property over from PGE.

Tuesday’s meeting begins at 9am in the Supervisors meeting room.
