Brown To Sign Controversial Driver’s License Bill

Sacramento, CA — Governor Jerry Brown says he will sign a bill that will allow illegal immigrants to receive a driver’s license.

AB 60 will allow people to sign an affidavit with the DMV if they are unable to provide a social security number or federal tax ID number. That affidavit cannot be used against them in any type of criminal investigation. An estimated 1.4 million undocumented immigrants would become eligible for a license.

The legislation is titled the “Safe and Responsible Drivers Act.” Brown’s office announces that the Governor will sign it into law tomorrow during a pair of ceremonies to be held in Fresno and Los Angeles.
