Groveland, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man that drowned Tuesday afternoon in Lake Don Pedro.

Harold Michael DePalma of Ballico, California was on a small boat with his wife and daughter, and was heading out to a houseboat on the lake. When he reached out to grab ahold of the houseboat, he went overboard and did not resurface.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that they have recovered the body thanks to a submarine type piece of equipment on loan from Stanislaus County. The accident occurred at around 1pm near the Fleming Meadows Boat Ramp. DePalma was 87-years-old.
