Update: Power Fire 85% Contained

Pinecrest, CA — The Power Fire is 85% contained at 1,060 acres. Forest Officials report they should have containment on Tuesday around 6pm as helicopters and hand crews continued making significant progress.

The Summit Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest has been temporary closed. Forest Officials report burned snags and vegetation within the burn area have created unsafe conditions for the public. The closed area is bordered by forest roads 5N95, 5N02 and State Highway 108. Forest Officials caution visitors to drive slowly and be careful when burning campfires especially in making sure they are put out completely.

There has been a reduction for the forces battling the blaze. The number of fire fighters on scene has been reduced from 484 to 468. 

Resources include: 11 hand crews, 20 engines, 3 helicopters, 1 fixed wing, 1water tenders, and 3 dozers.
