Two Injured In Highway 4 Crash

Calaveras County, CA — The CHP reports that a man fell asleep while driving and caused a crash on Highway 4 west of Hillcrest Drive.

Yesterday afternoon a 2009 Chevy Colorado driven by 67-year-old Richard Soracco of Angels Camp collided with an oncoming 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 62-year-old Diane Lauterbach of Hathaway Pines.

Soracco’s vehicle proceeded to spin around, and Lauterbach’s collided with a dirt embankment. Soracco was taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center and Lauterbach was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center. Their injuries were reported to be “minor.” The CHP reports that Soracco had drifted off to sleep shortly before the crash. The accident was reported yesterday at 4:40pm. Details of the crash are still under investigation.
