Residents Not Impressed With How Budget Crisis Is Handled-Spending Cuts Are Preferred

A new statewide poll has found that Californians prefer cutting government spending over raising taxes as a remedy to the budget crisis.

The Field Institute poll found that residents believe the state´s financial condition has deteriorated and few expressed confidence in elected officials´ ability to improve it.

California is facing a 12 billion dollar budget shortfall in the coming year. Leaders blame a weak economy and the financial fallout from the September 11th terrorist attacks.
