Three squadrons of F-18 Hornet fighters based at Lemoore Naval Air Station are heading home after supporting the war in Afghanistan.
The Navy says the carrier Carl Vinson left the Persian Gulf Wednesday after 73 days in the area.
The Lemoore pilots, their planes and hundreds of crew members are to arrive in San Diego aboard the Vinson late next month.
