The Bakersfield police officer who shot an alleged carjacker last week has been cleared to return to duty.
A department review found that four-year veteran Bobby Woolard acted within department policies and state and federal law in firing on 22-year-old Robert Wright.
Wright led police on a high-speed chase and then rammed a police car with a Mustang. Investigators say Wright had earlier stolen the car at gunpoint from a salesman at Jim Burke Ford.
