Brief Break In The Storms

It looks like California and Nevada are over the bad weather hump – at least for a little while. But Oregon will

continue to get soaked from El Nino-related storms.

The break between Pacific storms comes just in time to ring in the New Year. After weeks of wet and stormy weather, the National Weather Service predicts a clear and mostly dry New Year´s Day for most of California and Western Nevada. A string of powerful El Nino-related storms have dumped heavy rain and snow on the West Coast in recent weeks.

Up to 12 inches of snow has fallen in the Lake Tahoe area since yesterday. Earlier today, the CHP closed all major roadways through the Sierra because of bad weather. Zero visibility on the Donner Summit and a small avalanche shut down the two main highways. However, both roadways were reopened by this afternoon.
