Davis Grants Parole To Inmate

Governor Davis has approved parole for a 71-year-old inmate who was convicted of killing a man he suspected of vandalizing his car. Davis´ approval of parole for Chu Ly of Stockton marks only the third time he has upheld a parole approved by the state Board of Prison Terms. He´s reversed 166 paroles.

Ly was convicted of second-degree murder in the March 1987 shooting death of Christopher Dabbs, who allegedly was vandalizing cars in Ly´s neighborhood. Davis says police, prosecutors and the judge in the case all support Ly´s release.
