Snow Comes To The Mountains

A storm is bringing snow and some traffic delays to the Sierra Nevada. The Alpine Meadows and Boreal ski resorts near Lake Tahoe reported from 3 to 5 inches of new snow by 6 this morning.

Dodge Ridge in Tuolumne County reports getting fresh snow, but that they will need a few more inches to open.

Chains are mandatory on Interstate 80 over Donner Summit. Chains or snow tires also are required on Highway 88 east of Ham´s Station and on Highway 108 at Snow Park.

No major weather-related traffic accidents were reported.

Tahoe ski resorts haven´t had much snow since a powerful storm dumped up to 5 feet of snow a month ago. But resort operators are encouraged by forecasts calling for a chance of heavy snow over the next week. The Christmas holiday period is traditionally one of the busiest times of the season for the resorts.
