Sonora Handed Playoff Loss

The Sonora High School Wildcats couldn´t stop Oakmont´s air game friday night as the Vikings advance to the second playoff round after handing Sonora a 34-21 loss in Roseville last night.

Oakmont dominated the first half going ahead 20-0 at halftime. James Harris, the Sacramento area´s leading pass receiver, showed why by catching two touchdown passes from quarterback Crosby Wehr from 59 yards and 36 yards. Brett Colyer also had a big touchdown catch from Wehr early in the game for 56 yards.

After stumbling in the first half, Sonora came out to play in the second scoring three touchdowns. Tommy Grove put the first points on the board for the Wildcats after taking an interception twenty yards for a touchdown.

Quarterback Jeff Hess had a four yard touchdown run, and Tony Reynosa scored on a six yard drive for the final touchdown of the game late in the fourth quarter.

Oakmont hosts Manteca next Friday night in round two of the Sac-Joaquin Division 3 playoffs after the Buffaloes edged Foothill 20-18.

Oakdale advances as well, after blanking Vanden 20-0.

In division 4 ball last night, Calaveras topped Hilmar 28-7, and Amador manhandled Encina 47-7.
