Here’s a way to keep alive the Christmas spirit and the historic Douglas Flat School House, all at once.
School supporters are selling Christmas cards to benefit the restoration of the historic school just off Highway 4 near Murphys.
The cards feature a watercolor painting of the school by artist Dave Gano. They sell for $10 for a packet of 10 cards.
Douglas Flat School was built in 1854 and is the oldest surviving pioneer schoolhouse in Calaveras County.
The cards are available in Murphys at The Tree House, Alchemy Market and Stevenot Tasting Room, all on Main Street. You can also buy them at Chatom Winery in Douglas Flat.
