A chorus of foghorns shattered Saturday morning´s stillness in San Francisco and cheering crowds lined the Golden Gate Bridge to celebrate the return of Fleet Week. It is San Francisco´s 21st annual celebration of the ships, sailors and aviators of the U-S Navy, Marines and Coast Guard.
The event resumed after a year´s hiatus following the September 11th terrorist attacks. It also provided the debut of the “Sea Slice”, a sea vessel that can transform itself from mini-battleship to research vessel to passenger ferry to casino boat. Fleet Week continues today.
