Placer County Fire Ragining On

At least six structures have burned, including three homes, in a fast-moving brush fire that´s grown to between 500 and 600 acres in Rocklin, just east of Sacramento in Placer County. Several homes have been evacuated, as has a school. The Rocklin Fire Department says the children and school employees are all safe. The blaze started at about 2:50 yesterday afternoon at I-80 east of Sierra College Boulevard. The California Department of Forestry says high winds fanned the flames. Fire officials say they don´t know when the blaze will be contained. They say high winds blew embers, which then sparked other fires in the Rocklin and Loomis area. Rocklin Fire Department spokesman Russell Hildebrand says the fire has broken into three smaller blazes, one of which is contained.
