Rescue Effort For Hiker Called Off

Tuolumne County Search and rescue teams were called off Thursday afternoon from the Emigrant Wilderness area near Rosasco Lake.

Details are still sketchy at this hour, but according the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department, search and rescue personnel were called out to help bring in a person reported unable to move or walk in the area of Louse Canyon and Cherry Creek. The ground crews requested permission from the U.S. Forest Service around 12:30 p.m. to permit a helicopter to aid in the search for the hiker.

Just before five o´clock, search and rescue units were told the unidentified person was able to walk out of the wilderness under their own power and the rescue effort was called off. No other details are known at this time.
