A man facing a murder charge is the sixth inmate to commit suicide in the Sacramento County Jail this year. A sherriff´s deputy doing a cell check found the victim this weekend. The 50-year-old man had made a noose from a bed sheet and secured it to the top bunk of his cell.
There have been an increased number of suicides at the jail recently. In past years the suicide rate had been lower than the national average. Saturday´s suicide is the sixth in seven months.
