Fire Puts Reunion Plans On Hold

About 100 people were expecting to gather this weekend at the Long Barn Lodge for the annual Cook Family Reunion.

Rhonda Perry, who lives near Bass Lake, says family members from around California and even Oregon came to the Mother Lode for the weekend get-together.

Friday morning, as Perry watched flames destroyed the vintage mountain resort she was at a loss as to what they were going to do.

“I don´t know. We´ve got them coming in the morning and some tomorrow afternoon,” Perry said. “The lodge was planning on doing a brunch for the whole family on Sunday morning before everybody took off. Of course that´s off now, poor things.”

The pre-dawn blaze broke just after 3 a.m. and destroyed the historic two-story wooden building near Highway 108. Cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was injured in the fire.
