Hit And Run Suspect Claims Sun Blinded Him

The man accused in an Oakland hit-and-run that killed a 5-year-old girl says he was only going about 30 miles per hour at the time and was blinded by the sun.

Osvaldo Urzua is accused of running down Maribel Espinosa, her three children and two other youngsters as they were on their way to school.

Ana Cerna died from her injuries. Espinosa and the other children suffered a variety of injuries. All are expected to recover.

Police also say Urzua never asked about the victims after he was arrested. Officers who questioned him say he was mainly concerned about his own fate, because he was driving without a license.
