Still No Arrest In Girl’s Disappearance

Nearly two weeks after the disappearance from her San Diego home of seven-year-old Danielle van Dam, police again searched the home of a neighbor last night. Danielle was last seen the night of February first when her father put her to bed.

Investigators have called David Westerfield, who lives two homes away, a “potential suspect.´´ Last night´s search lasted about five hours but police said they were NOT preparing to make an arrest. Several boxes were carried from Westerfield´s home, but police have declined to say if they found anything linked to the girl´s disappearance. Earlier police seized his motorhome.

Investigators also used a bloodhound yesterday at the van Dam residence, hoping to turn up any clues.

Brenda and Damon Van Dam told reporters yesterday they continue to hold out hope their daughter is still alive. They said a 25-thousand-dollar reward is offered for information leading to Danielle´s safe return.
