California´s largest petroleum provider B-P says it will phase out the gasoline additive M-T-B-E by December, a year ahead of a state deadline.
The company says it has taken the first step to phase out M-T-B-E by the end of the year by signing contracts with several suppliers of ethanol, an alternative, corn-based additive that helps gasoline burn cleaner.
