A 19-year-old man is in serious condition today after being bitten by a snake while swimming in the Consumnes River in Wilton. The man was flown to U.C. Davis Medical Center yesterday and remains in intensive care today.
The man was swimming with a friend when he came face-to-face with a rattlesnake, which bit him on the chin. He was able to swim ashore and call 911.
An Elk Grove Community Services District Fire Department spokeswoman says the snake got away. This is the second report of a snake bite in the Wilton area in two weeks.
