County Employees On Furlough Today

Some 700 Tuolumne County employees have today off – without pay.

An unanimous vote earlier this month by the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors approved two unpaid days off for county employees – today and January 16. Supervisors say they are participating as well.

County Administrator C. Brent Wallace says this is the county´s attempt to help make up some of the 4-million dollars lost after the governor rescinded the increase in Vehicle License Fees last month. They say Tuolumne county will save $150,000 as a result

Road crews who work snow removal equipment will not be affected by the furlough if weather conditions dictate their need.
