Streamlined reviews of forest thinning projects will result from legislation approved by Congress Friday. The Healthy Forests Restoration Act authorizes projects to thin overgrown forests and reduce the threat of wildfires.
The bill also reforms the process for challenging forest management projects through administrative appeals. Supporters call the bill the most significant reform of forest management policy in nearly a century.
