President Bush is refusing to take sides in the state gubernatorial recall election and says the decision is for Californians to make.
The former Texas governor said today he views the situation as an interested political observer. He added at a White House Rose Garden news conference that Texans don´t have recalls.
The president´s first comments on the recall came in response to a question. The White House has steered clear of the recall issue ever since Republican activists launched a petition drive in the spring to put the question on the ballot.
